Paper Bag Heart Decorations

Valentine's Day is just around the corner and instead of buying a gift from a department store, how's about making something from up-cycled paper bags! These adorable decorations can be stuffed with candy, stickers, treats or anything you can find. I used shredded paper and added a couple drops of lavender oil for a surprise scent. Gift these cuties to friends and family, hang them on the wall or from your doorknob with a cute ribbon to add some Valentine's decor to your home.

Materials needed:

paper bag

yarn

scissors

glue

heart template

pen or pencil

watercolor paint and paint brush

Instructions:

1. Cut out a template of a heart, place it on the paper bag, and trace with a pen or pencil.

2. Cut down one side of bag and the bottom of the bag off. Double up the paper and using your scissors, cut along the traced lines (cutting two hearts at a time).

3. Paint hearts with watercolor and when dry, glue two pieces together leaving about an inch open for stuffing. Let glue dry. Optional: Using a hole punch, punch holes along the edge of the heart about a 1/2 inch apart.

4. Wrap a small piece of tape over the end of the yarn to make it easier to pass through holes. Using a whip stitch, thread the yarn around the heart leaving a little opening to stuff with items of your choice.

After stuffing the paper heart, add more glue to the open area, press together and finish up the stitching. Tie a knot to secure and admire your Valentine's paper bag heart!

We hope you have as much fun as we did making these up-cycled paper bag hearts! Please share and tag @friendsandfaire on Instagram! We would love to see your one-of-a-kind creations!
